The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center’s project aimed  to increase WIC enrollment among families  in Hamilton County, Ohio.

Cincinnati Children’s  used community-level data to identify areas in the county with low rates of WIC enrollment, developed a user-friendly online WIC referral system accessible via QR code, and disseminated outreach materials. The project  also expanded partnerships between primary care offices and local WIC offices in areas with low WIC enrollment. Input from WIC and health department staff, health care providers, and WIC families  informed the development of the project.

The online referral system created through this project is  transferable to other health care systems looking to increase WIC enrollment through collaboration between primary care and local WIC agencies.
